Happy 2018! As I look back on 2017 I feel blessed for all of the opportunities I had as an artist. This time last year I was working frantically to finish my final paintings for my show with B. Rex Stewart at the Hockaday Museum of Art called 'Flathead on Canvas: Small Town Charm to Countryside Splendor' which opened in February 2017. And before that exhibit was over I was ramping up for a solo show in June at The Walking Man Gallery in Whitefish, MT called 'Whitefish & Glacier en Plein Air' This year kicks of with a bit of pressure too as we officially launch 'Captured on Canvas Wedding Paintings'.
In addition to all of the exciting opportunities this new endeavor brings I am also looking forward to participating in the 'Artists Give Back to the Hockaday: Orphan Art Sale' coming up on March 3rd. About 20 artists including myself were selected for being well known, collectible, and having an undying love of the Hockaday (as Rob Akey put it) to donate 2 to 4 small works worthy of consideration by a new collector at new collector prices. I feel honored to be among the group of artists selected. I will be donating 4 small paintings so stay tuned for more on that!

WEDDING EXPO

The My Montana Wedding Expo is now just a few days away. The event takes place at the Flathead County Fairgrounds this Saturday, January 13th from 11AM to 5PM. Admission is just $6. If someone you know will be getting married in the coming year, send them our way. We would love to meet them and help them make their wedding unforgettable. We will be offering wedding portrait painting based on photo reference, landscape paintings with the bride and groom, and live event painting in which I will paint live at a wedding and reception.
We are putting the final touches on our preparation for the event. Patti has put in a lot of work to make sure our booth will be beautiful and professional looking. In addition to completing several large works for the event, we have put together a really nice package of promotional materials including a banner, postcards, and brochure, all with the new Captured on Canvas logo. The weddings page at JeffTroupeFineArt.com got a complete makeover and includes a lot of information about the services provided, pricing, and other details. We are thrilled with how they turned out and are excited to see how people respond to them.
At The Expo this Saturday I will be working live on a bride and groom painting set on Lake McDonald. Guests at the Expo will be able to watch as I work on the large 18”x24” painting and see it unfold before their eyes.

A Montana Fall, 8"x10"
I am very happy 'A Montana Fall' is going to a good home. It is one of my favorites that I painted this last fall at the Glacier Plein Air 2017 event. There are so many little hidden corners along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River on Glacier Park's south edge. The weather was perfect the whole week with just a little nip in the air, big blue Montana skies, and billowy clouds slowly drifting overhead. The fall color couldn't be beat and many of these spectacular scenes could be seen by just taking a short walk from the highway.

St. Mary Pinnacles, 4"x6"
This 'little gem' as my wife likes to call my small paintings that she enjoys particularly, was shipped off to its new home frame and all last week. It was part of the Mini Glacier Christmas Promo and one of my favorites of the lot. St. Mary Lake is so much fun to paint with its signature pinnacles, Goose Island at its center, and sheer size and massive scale. It is fun for me to create these BIG little paintings. This take on St. Mary Lake was more moody and dramatic than some of my others as the last bit of gold peeked through the clouds in the dimming light.
